FIL visiting immediately after traveling

So my FIL was out of the country for the week and immediately came over today once his plane landed. Didn’t tell me or my husband that he was coming over . He mentioned to my SIL that he was feeling sick and was in contact with someone sick. My husband is at work and I’m very uncomfortable that he’s here with a raspy voice and a little cough. He has a tendency to kiss baby and gosh I just don’t know how to tell him I don’t want him holding baby! Baby is 4 months old. He’s insisting that he isn’t sick and it was just the dirt making him sound raspy. Am I overreacting?

Not overreacting!!!!! In those situations I make things up like baby has to nurse or is colicky and needs to he held by mom or needs to nap or something. And your husband should talk to him

Get that man out of your house asap! Would tell him you need to feed the baby and then the baby needs a nap so he should come back at a different time.

@Katherine thank you 🥹 I just feel so bad cause he does live far and can’t make it out to us very often but I just don’t want to risk baby getting sick !

Yeah full disclosure and I know this might sound kinda harsh but would you rather him being a little annoyed he didn't go near the baby or you being angry that you let him and then God forbid the baby gets sick after? You're not overreacting at all, choose your baby and don't feel bad for doing so

Not over reacting at all, your baby your rules. I don’t care if I may seem rude, but if something happens to my baby because a sick person kissed them they’re not gonna give me my baby back. Stay away PERIOD.

Nope nope nope. I wouldn't have even let him in just for showing up unannounced. Absolutely disrespectful to do that! How do you just drop in on someone like that and then on top of that you might be sick too?! Hell no!
