Food offered when unwell

Hey, my little boy is feeling unwell and is barely eating. I'm at a loss for what foods to offer. So far he ate 3 tiny bites of a pancake, refused toast and then ate a biscuit at a snails pace. I know it's a waiting game for when he's ready to eat properly but just looking for some ideas to at least offer for now. Thank you in advance.

Yoghurt pouches were the one thing we could reliably get down our LG when she’s really poorly

I always panic when my daughter doesn’t eat if she’s ill but I remind myself we don’t feel like eating when we’re poorly. I tend to offer favourite foods because if she’ll eat anything it would be those - things like sausages cooked in gravy so they are soft with mash for dinner, weetabix, yogurts, bananas, she also seems to really enjoy tinned tomatoes when she’s poorly x

I freeze apple puree in little ice lollies. Did it when my eldest had a sickness bug and always remember the GP commenting on how well hydrated she was - I put it down to those! I try to use the BRAT diet to see if I can tempt my little ones when they’re not feeling well. It’s easy to get caught up and panic, but as long as they’re drinking, they will let you know when they want something ❤️

Thanks all! He's been off yogurts and bananas to which is usually my go too to get him started. After basically zero breakfast he's ate some potato smiles and chicken dippers, not great but food in the belly! He slowed with the chicken so gave him a spoon to feed me to keep him interested 🤣 has worked for a couple more bites.

Mine still get a bottle some times, she got sick and did not want anything else

@Clarise funny he isn't a bottle fan but is having two. Poor lad has diarrhea now so explains a lot.

Forgot to say - illness sometimes causes temporary sensitivity to lactose! Can be difficult to avoid milk, cheese and yogurt for a few days but could try lactose free options. I always remember my boss - (a father of four) telling me this when id been up all night with our eldest

Things that are good are ice lollies, rice, pasta, yogurts, biscuits toast etc, my little girl has just gotten over the sickness bug had it for 4 days and been fully better for 3 days but her appetite still isnt back to normal xx
