Omg I could have written this today! She cried the whole way home she was so hungry and then immediately had two baby bowls of pasta and then yoghurt. Its just a snack at 3.30 at ours and then I collect her at 5.20 ish and dinner asap. The snack today was rice cakes and fruit, not very substantial- some days its a sandwich which is better. Thankfully today my husband was home at 4.30 and had her dinner ready, I dont know what we would have done if I had to start making it, she was hysterical. We do a bowl of porridge and then milk before bed. So she eats well, I just dont know how to bridge the gap between lunch at 11.30am and dinner at 5.30pm with just one small snack. I dont really want to have to complain
@CeeCee I know right, it's such a long gap! On one hand I think they must know what they're doing, but on the other, it's such a long gap! For tea ours do sandwiches and wraps etc, but no idea how big those are. I only ever saw the morning snack when we did settling in sessions, and it was abysmal lol. A few pieces of banana and a few pieces of clementine. Not that our snacks at home are massive, but I will give her like a muffin or yoghurt and fruit etc, but I guess our lunch is also bigger. And as you say they get SO hangry, when she has a meltdown like yours she will refuse to eat at all
Our nursery give them as much as they would like. I often have them tell me that my son had thirds of dinner lol. He still comes home and wants toast though!!! Xx
We always send picky bits in for if she's extra hungry or if she's not done well on lunch or AM/PM snack. She has breakfast at home and morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack at nursery. But tea at home as she finishes at 3.30pm. We tend to send more finger foods like Carrott green beans, celery, cucumber tomatoe, greated apple, cheese raspberries, watermelon etc.maybe worth sending some extra picky bits with them to nursery and ask to offer after the light tea. I know our nursery tends to do a bigger lunch than tea from looking at the menu also. I just put bits in a lunch bag with a freezer pack. She likes them all cold especially when teething x
Id just give a snack then dinner mine eats loads through the day sometimes and i just let him other days he wont eat as much so if hes telling me he wants more ill give him more that's still with 3x 7oz of cows milks aswel
