We used ready to feed overnight or hot shot & cool boiled water x
I used the prep machine for my first, wouldn’t use again tho. This time I live in a bungalow so I’ll be doing the 24 hour prep bottles in the fridge and heating up when needed x
With my first in the day we would boil the water and let it cool down, then when baby woke for a night feed we would add the formula and heat it up using a baby bottle/food heater. Took about 5 mins toral to have it all prepared to feed. X
Don't stock up on milk incase your baby dislikes the milk or has a allergy to cow milk, otherwise have the water ready next to you to add the formula otherwise you'll have a screaming baby for the time your getting the bottle hot or cold enough xx
We do the hot shot method with the nuby rapid cool, the first week we were making bottles just with boiling water from a flask and running it under a cold tap and let me tell you, when baby is crying for their milk, minutes feel like hours and switching to the nuby rapid cool has been life changing 🤣
Nuby rapid cool flask and formula pots x
@Emma please don’t share this advice. Unless you are using prescription milk this isn’t safe as the formula needs adding to water of 70c or more to kill harmful bacteria.
We used hot shot method. 1 flask of boiling water, 1 flask of cool boiled water. Measure an oz (you’ll need more as baby increases amount they drink) of boiling water into bottle, add formula, shake, add rest of cool water. Takes about 2 mins to make the bottle and just check its not too hot on your wrist x
When we used cows milk formula we used the flask and rapid cool method. Once we went onto prescribed formula I just used cool boiled water x
If you are planning on formula feeding start by choosing a brand of first infant milk. A lot of brands have premade ready to drink formula available, we found this was really useful for the first couple of night when we got home. We now prepare 3 bottle of formula in the evening, follow the instructions for your particular formula and then we store them in the fridge overnight and use a bottle warmer as needed
Get a nuby rapid cool and a flask of boiling water and take them up with you, along with the formula and bottles, then just make them when you need them in the night x
