Please remind me it gets better

I am so frustrated with my partner at the moment! I don’t think I expect much right… He has never done a night feed, hardly changes a nappy, barely bought any baby items. And yes I have been in pain, upset, angry and sad - I am human after all. And yes we have spoken, he always takes a conversation as me moaning or fighting with him. I am far far from Perfect don’t get me wrong. But What can I do to try and change his mindset or try and get past this? Maybe it’s the way I approach things?! I don’t want to leave him, a relationship takes a lot of work and I know we are meant for each other… it’s just so hard at the moment (baby girl is 8 months) The one thing that is getting to me is I would hate if my daughter was with this person… and I don’t want her to grow up thinking this is okay, although I know it will pass.

I could have written some of this myself. Just the more I talk to people and reflect I realise men really are useless! Actually my husband has done many night feeds but due to him being awake anyway for insomnia so I’m usually going to bed alone. I find often someone else’s situation seems better but there’s another side to it. My husband also sees any conversation as me moaning. I’ve heard a similar story loads and the bit you said that resonates with me is that you still feel you are meant for each other. I feel like often people jump straight to the ‘leave him’ advice which yes in some situations is needed but clearly not here. I spent years on dating apps and ended up with the motto ‘all guys are assholes just find the right asshole for you’. Ok I was mostly joking when I used to say that and I do really love my husband but I think there is something to it that men just see things differently.

I’d say (and as I am in a similar position I’m trying to follow this too) list the things you do love about him to remind yourself when you get frustrated. Then pick your battles. Things do need addressing but don’t overload it. Give practical suggestions e.g. start by asking him for one night you can sleep and he does night feeds.

It really does help reading these comments, makes me feel not so alone. And makes em feel like it will get better ♥️ thanks girls x
