Failure

Is it just me over reacting? Why do I feel like I am failing as a mother whenever my boy’s eczema flares up? It is so heartbreaking for me to see him uncomfortable, itchy, and inflamed. I know eczema is pretty common but I really find it so hard to deal with. I feel like I am losing my confidence as a mother, don’t want to go out with his face red raw. My husband tells me to accept that eczema is a chronic condition and it will always come and go, and just go with it, to say at least that our LO doesn’t have any other serious illness which is something to be grateful for.

No you're not overreacting. My little girl is going through the same thing and it's heartbreaking seeing her itching all night. I tried steroids in the past but have stopped using them completely as I don't want to thin the skin on her face. I moisturise her whole body twice a day and her face approximately 5 times a day. She's been referred to dermatology now, hoping they can help to figure out the underlying cause. I stopped going out at one point because any new environment would cause a flare 😢It does affect your confidence, I had a conversation with my sister half an hour ago asking if I am doing something wrong. Be reassured these feelings are normal as we only want the best for our babies ♥️

I moisturise his body every nappy change so 4x day and his face almost every hour during waking hours just to keep it moisturise but when the temperature dropped to 1C about 3 days ago, all the effort went to waste. I hope we’ll be referred to dermatology on his follow up, as I’ve been telling them since but GP doesn’t want to

You're doing everything you can. Try to be stern with your GP because ultimately it's affecting both of you right now. What are you currently using to moisturise baby?

Thank you @Zana xx We just switched to Hydromol ointment and have to use stronger steroid than Hydrocortisone now. He can’t have without steroid 😢

It can be allergic reaction to something, my 3 yo face used to flares up from dairy, honey, oats. So look what your baby is eating day or 2 before it flares up 🙌 and use good bacteria for his tummy to keep it healthy 🥰

Thank you @Santa xx I am starting to look at probiotic now, what do you recommend?
