Puree

How much puree can I feed my 5.5 month old. I’ve been giving a couple of teaspoons full at dinner but no idea if that’s enough. He seems to want more but no idea what’s too much Only just started purées the last couple of days

It’s definitely just for fun at that age so just as much as baby is interested in. Couple of teaspoons sounds great

I give my baby about 4/5 teaspoons they don't need much more at that age it's all just exploring taste n texture x

Thankyou both!

My little one was born 9 Sept, been introducing solids since end Jan and she generally has about three of four tablespoons worth of food now and nibbles on cucumber/celery but definitely don’t rely on it to fill her up. I tend to split her bottle feed which is what my health visitor recommended to avoid her being too hungry but also just relying on food. So I will give half her bottle about 30 minutes beforehand and then offer the rest about 30 minutes after she’s done. Sometimes she takes it, sometimes she doesn’t

@Jade sounds like your LO is doing amazing! I’m so nervous to introduce real food so I thought starting with purées would ease me into it😂 I was wondering about milk too as I breastfeed so I usually give 1 side before dinner and then a bit of puree and then a feed before bed?

My little one is 5 and a half weeks and he has 2 homemade purée packets a day sometimes three 🤣 but he’s a big boy and a big eater because he still nurses every 1-2 hours

Highly recommend the Solid Starts app if you haven’t already. Even just the free version tells you age appropriate ways to serve solids. It has definitely given me some confidence and she seems to manage well with things I’ve followed so far
