hitting

Yeah he slaps but now he has started twisting/pulling my husbands ears

@Tasha have you got any idea how to deal with it?? my little girl won’t listen at all

My LB grabs other kids faces and i cant get him to stop! He gets super excited seeing other kids and will just go run up to them and grab their faces and their hair whilst shouting in excitement. I think partly the problem is we dont have any other toddlers his age in the family. Hopefully they grow out of it but just to say I get it!

From what I've seen/heard it's a normal development thing. I've been saying gentle hands and showing him what gentle hands are (stroking me or stroking himself) or say kind hands. We've got those touch books and if he is being rougher with it I stroke it and say awww gentle hands and smile. And if he is hitting I pull a different face. If he keeps hitting I move away from him and say you'll sit back on me when you use your gentle hand, if you hit then you come away from mum. He's so much more gentle with me and even strokes me but my husband doesn't follow the same thing.

It’s a normal development thing and way how they communicate. They won’t understand when you start explaining. My little one was hitting my husband’s face 1 month ago and he thought that it was fun. I removed him quietly from him. Whenever he did it again I removed him from fun and he gradually stopped. I didn’t commented on it at all. Nothing what they do it’s bad behaviour as we see it. They just experimenting, communicating and learning boundaries xx
