Family Coming Over

Bro. Whenever my husbands family comes over (dad and sister) my husband always feels the need to buy everyone the most expensive steaks. He’s an extremely crunchy parent, so he wants the top tier, grass fed meet that is way more expensive. It’s his birthday today & because we’re both tired (I literally stayed up almost all night with the baby) he told them I was making homemade crabcakes & steak for dinner. I asked before plans were made, if we could just go out for his birthday, especially because that’s very expensive (even more expensive than just going out) & again, I’m tired. I get that it’s his birthday, but it’s not just today. I’m annoyed how I’m always volentold to cook for them, but we spend so much money on them to come over & they don’t even offer to help, to bring something, to help clean for goodness sakes. I’m just really annoyed, bc I wasn’t raised this way. I was raised to be extra courteous to a guests house. Even when we’d go to his moms house, I always do my best to help, offer to help pay for some of it (since it’s a big family) & I always offer to clean afterwards. His dad and sister come over & it’s like he does the most for them. Even when my own family comes over & im cooking for them (just my mom & bro) it’s a pasta night; whatever is the cheapest, not a whole steakhouse dinner EVERY TIME they come over. Would y’all be annoyed as well?

I would say I would be annoyed as well... There are a variety of foods he cud be doing for them when they come over.. Even if he does do steak, there are some that has more than one in it/cheaper. But maybe talk to him again. It's ok they come over but can we change up the menu? Dont think its fair that when they come over, its steaks all the time when u are trying to be considerate and think bout the budget an your family menu is something else or cheaper.

@Dontay absolutely! I tried offering steaks from Aldi instead of the fancy stores and he doesn’t trust them 😒 it’s so ridiculous. I’m not trying to diss crunchy parents, that’s cool, but girl we don’t have that type of money like this man is delusional thinking we do lol

I feel like this would be less problematic as well if he didn't assume you'd be the one cooking it all. If he insists on the steak, why can't he cook?

Lol.. Ummm right.. Seems lyk he is trying to impress them by giving sumin he barely has.. Not saying yal don have it, but..... Welll he cue get there and suggest they bring their own steak next time. @Kayla yesssss!!!
