@Elena this is the thing the instructions are so confusing. Iv added 1 scoop but to be honest it doesn't seem much thicker to normal! I'll see how she gets on but I'm not convinced by it. Xxx
1 scoop per 60 mls/2oz if you'd like it thick. 1/2 a scoop in 90ml/3oz if you want it to be not as thick. I change mine based on reflux need so it's a bit of trial and error to find out what suits. You will find that you may need to go up a teat size if using a thicker consistency as it can be hard to drink with a smaller teat. If your little lady is on 4oz you can go up to 2 scoops. It takes a few minutes to thicken up.
My daughter is on carobel 4oz I use one scoop. Shes usually on 7oz so I do 2 scoops of carobel. I agree the instructions aren't clear. The dr told me to trial 1 scoop for 7oz but she kept being sick so went back to 2 scoops, it definitely helps
My daughter is older now but it was trial and error to find a consistency that worked for her. We found it absolutely amazing once we got the measure right and it helped her so so much
My girl has it too and I usually make 150ml which I think is about 5oz roughly. I use just over half a scoop and that’s enough for her. It is trial and error but I would go for the lowest amount possible because it can cause constipation
Thanks all. I just hope this helps. We are on a double edge sword as she has thinner milk and she gets reflux really bad, if we use anti reflux she gets constipated to the point she is wriggling in pain. Hopefully this helps when we can control the thickness! Xxxxx
My daughter has 4oz and I found 2 scoops was too thick, so I do 1.5 scoops and let it thicken for 3 mins.
@Katie mine did have constipation when he started carobel. It helped his reflux (alongside his meds) so he got put on lactulose for a short time to help with the constipation.
So how many scoops for 5oz bottle xx
Go to your pharmacist and ask. Don’t ask for medical advice here.
A bit rude but ok
@Cami she’s not asking for medical advice she’s asking someone to explain the instructions to her as they aren’t clear. So people are explaining how their make it. The pharmacist is only going to read from the back of the pack the way OP done.
If you were to divide what the instruction guide says, it would be half a scoop per 30mls/ounce for the thicker consistency. @mammy to 8 angels 👼 up to 2.5 scoops if you want it thick for 5oz

Thankyou elena xxx
@Cami it isn’t a medicine it is literally just a thickener that can also be used in foods. It’s difficult to get the balance right
@Cami thank you, I already asked for advice from both pharmacy and GP and all they did was read the instructions which again are not clear. I'm well aware not to seek medical advice on here and always consult with my GP or health visitor if medical advice is what I'm after. As this is not the case I wanted to see what everyone else is measuring up at so I can get the gist of how much to add as currently I'm wasting formula either making it too thick or thin.. but thanks for the input.
@Elena this 🙏🙏
Thanks all for your replies. I think I have cracked it!! Woohoo, no more sick and little lady is soooo much more settled today. I think it's the change in formula too. She was on C&G and now Mamia and I think she prefers it! Xxx
@Katie aww she’s beautiful 🥰
@Lauryn n thank you ❤️
I just googled it to see if I can help you and I’m so confused myself.. I assume what they are saying is it depends how thick you want it. So start with half a scoop and see how she is then move to 1 scoop them to 1.5 if needed. But don’t quote me that’s just what I’ve interpreted from what I have read x
