So I started off with sweet potato and carrots and they seem to have gone down a treat my little girl loves it! Peas not so much a fan 😂 I’m going to try broccoli today! I give her milk during her usual times, and her food between the milk - and I’ll offer her some water to essentially wash her food down. I probably do two large baby spoons of puréed food - she would continue eating forever otherwise 😂 and occasionally like a chunk of banana after or two strawberries pureed x
I completely understand feeling overwhelmed! We started yesterday so only two days in, but I’m doing a mixture of purées and baby led and just trying to go with the flow. I made some purées last week and froze them so am using those and also offering some finger food. My friends advice to me (she has an 18 month old) was not to overcomplicate it and worry about all these amazing meals you see people making. She just did porridge, weetabix, pancakes etc for breakfast, then picky plate for lunch and pre-made a dinner such as cottage pie, froze it and fed that for the week. She said not to worry about making different dinners for them every night straight away unless you want them to eat what you’re eating xx
Take your time Mama, take a break for a week and come back to it. Remember weaning while they're still on their milk is just experimenting, different tastes, textures etc. Dont pay attention to the social media Mam's, when you come back to it buy a variety of pouches and explore different flavours. Weaning is very overwhelming, don't put too much pressure on yourself Mama.
Take your time, try not to overthink it. (Trust me I did lol) do a week of fruits, then a week of veg etc. start them off one thing at a time then you can start mixing them. Remember there still getting used to textures, different tastes and how to swallow things that are thicker than milk Mix the things with a little bit of milk. The first year of foods is just for fun so still give the normal amount of milk. Xx
Mine absolutely loves egg yolks, pate and banana mashed with cream which are all pretty quick to do x
When I think back to my first, we definitely weren’t doing proper meals until several weeks in. Some days I just didn’t do anything at all because I just didn’t have the time/couldn’t be bothered with the mess. At this age, it really is just getting them used to textures, flavours etc. so do not worry about it
i started off giving my 6mo veg to not start on sweet things. (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, potato, cabbage). i tried them separate, then mixed some together. i’ve tried him with fruit which i blend with some of his milk and freeze so its like a frozen yoghurt. today i’ve tried him with wheetabix and toast and he’s a bit to have a little cooked dinner. i’ve done them myself instead of using jars because the jars have a lot of sugar. hope some advice helps xx
Thank you all so much for all the help you’ve all been amazing at advice! So nice to have vented and I feel so much more calmer now so thank you all lovely mamas 🩷 @Ashleigh Kate @Annabel @Emily @Caitlin @Rhiannon @Annie @Aimee @Tabbi xx
This is my second time weaning and my little girl just isn’t interested at all yet. My son we started early and he loved it all but she still doesn’t seem interested one bit even though we’ve waited till 6 months. Hoping it’ll get better if we persevere x
