@Susan-Lynn I love that! Our son is only 1 and a half right now. I don’t like to share his story without his consent which he’s too young to give. So I usually don’t say anything. It’s the feeling I’m wondering about. My son looks exactly like my husband. He’s is biological kinship my husband’s great nephew. So people never question it. I just don’t want feeling insecure in my mom title to cheat me out of enjoying this time while he’s little. Ya know?
We adopted him at birth from my best friend. I look at it more so now I’m who he calls mom, he doesn’t know any different. But that I’m loved enough for him to do that
I've adopted two babies. I am their mother, since the moment they took thier first breath. I was able to watch them both be born, the first to hold them, the first of many. Both adoptions are finalized, but that didn't make a difference from before that.
I didn’t force the title Mama on our son. At 7 months when he was placed with us he said Mama when looking for his bio Mom. It was heartbreaking. 2 years later he calls me Mom because that’s my name to his sister. I feel like his Mom. I don’t know when it happened, but gradually it did.
I did in the beginning when the pediatrician would hand me the pp questionnaire. Strangely enough my son looks a lot like me. So strangers in passing say nice things and I’m just over now correcting people. Those who I do tell i tell them I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago and my son is one-watching them trying to figure it out is funny
