From lifting to Pilates

I’m thinking about switching from lifting three days a week to light weight Pilates & walking (probably more than 3 days a week). Should I change my calorie intake? Has anyone else done this? I feel more bloated and like lifting is putting more stress on my body than I want.

I used to heavy lift and miss it I’ve been doing Pilates for about a month and taking the Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother’s and that has helped tremendously for my inflammation I eat between 15-1800 calories a day

Honestly, it depends on your age and your goals. If you’re 30 or older weight training is essential. Doesn’t have to be much or heavy, but once you get around that age or older, you start losing muscle. Muscle is ESSENTIAL for a healthy longevity. You’re right on the stress or inflammation. If you’re over doing it with the intensity/time and have other stressful life stressors, it could be hurting you. Maybe just try changing up the routine like you mentioned. Do a day with mostly body weight exercises. Try other movement activities like skimming, biking or hiking. With a calorie deficit, that all depends on your goals and what you are currently doing. Are you currently tracking your calories, have you changed your eating habits recently? I have so many questions to fully feel okay giving an answer! Haha

@Liz I’m 25! The Pilates workouts I started have very light weights. I was doing heavy squats, hip thrusts, etc 3 times a week. I’ve been tracking calories for almost a year. I lost all the weight within a few months though. But I’m trying to slowly increase. I’m currently at 1600 and trying to go up. (127 pounds, 5’6). I found out I’m super iron deficient so I think that’s playing a role in wanting to switch up what I’m doing. But I feel like I need to keep the heavier weights in order to increase calories? I’m not sure 🥲
