Yeah all the time
It's normal for babies to stare off into space. There's a difference between staring and absence seizures. Absent seizures are when they're in the middle of doing something they pause for a few seconds and then continuous though nothing happened. During that pause you can't interact with them you try but nothing happens they don't react it's like they don't exist for a couple seconds. I had to learn about this when I was in school for child care. A baby stopping then staring into space then doing something else or restarting what they were doing is very different from an absence seizure. Baby staring is totally normal they're learning about their world and experiencing everything for the first time, they're trying to categorize it in their brain, which is part of why they stare. They're trying to figure out where in their brain to put it and how they're interpreting the world around them.
An absence seizure is like you hit pause on a TV for a few seconds and then hit play, they'll stop mid movement and stay completely still you can't interact with them nothing and then continue the movement and do what they were doing as though nothing had happened
Yes, sometimes its cause they're tired.
