Cereal and purées

FTM here so I just need some guidance on how this is supposed to work. If anyone can direct me on where to read because there’s so much conflicting information on the internet. So to my understanding babies start solids in stage 1: 4-6 months. This includes cereal & fruit/veggies purées. I don’t want to start over feeding him so I’ve started giving him cereal in the morning and purée around his afternoon feeding. And then regular milk before bedtime. Someone send help 😂

@Ashley yes this is precisely what I need thank you!!

My 4.5m son pediatrician recommended 1-2tbsp total cereal a day (once in the morning and dinner time), and milk as usual. And incorporating stage 1 fruits and veggies closer to 5-6months. But of course, they have to show signs of readiness.. stable neck and head, ability to sit with minimal support, etc.

@Kim you’re welcome

One thing that helped me ease my mind around balancing feedings was "food before one is just for fun" meaning offer as able, continue bm/formula as regular, don't force feed but offer and as they age through the year add more varieties to be sure and allow different textures to occur. Yes, try to space out new foods to watch for allergies. Be aware that food will change stools. Do what you are comfortable with. I tend to do a mix of BLW and spoonfeeding... As baby grows and become more comfortable with food, they should slowly eat more solids and less formula/milk
