We make up bottles of boiled water in the morning for the day, and then leave them to cool and use as and when needed. If the baby needs a bottle straight away I use the Nuby rapid cool to cool the water before pouring in the formula. I thought it says on the tub that it needs to be made with cooled boiled water as boiling water will kill the nutrients in it x
We're neocate lcp and we pour boiled water into bottles and leave them overnight to use the next day. Just add powder, shake and go. I was under the impression that anything too hot killed the good stuff. So it needs to have cooled for at least 30 mins but can be cooled mode. I'd also say it needs to have cooled in the bottles rather than the kettle as the kettle is designed, like flasks, to retain heat.
My baby was taking neocate and neither the pediatrician or the GI doctor told me to do none of this, I was making the bottle with the room temperature baby water as normal.
It was the DHa/ ARA tho idk if that makes a difference
@Julie yes it does. They're made differently. For LCP you boil kettle and let cool for 30 or more mins. Then make the formula up. I was just confused as I'd seen so many conflicting comments, but now I've worked out it's because there's different types of Neocate!
@Beth oh ok I see, I was like hold on nobody told me I had to do that 😄
@JulieI think it might be US thing. I think you guys have the dha/ara and we typically have LCP or Syneo. Could be wrong though xx
@Beth maybe, I did got several cans of Syneo at the pediatric office and was making them the same way.
I’ve just been perscribed Neocate LCP today. Just given first bottle. What do I do at night (new to formula, been EBF) can I boil water and put it into bottles before I go to bed? Can’t imagine it’s a good idea to boil and wait 30+ mins in the middle of the night when she’s crying. Don’t have a rapid cool or anything as of yet as breastfeeding has just come to an abrupt, unexpected end x
@BeckyWe use a flask that remains hot for the night and nuby rapid cool. Boil before bed, wait 30 mins and transfer to flask. As someone pointed out above kettles retain heat so unlikely the right temp if waiting to cool for 30 mins inside kettle. Ours was still too hot so think it was probably killing nutrients in formula. So if we did that method we would need to transfer to something else for it to cool, then flask.. But there's not much point as we now we just boil kettle, transfer to flask and use the Nuby rapid cool to quickly cool the water to a warm temp before using. You don't know exactly how warm it is but it's drinkable for baby and warm to wrist which Neocate tub says it should be. Sorry to hear about your BF journey coming to an end. This happened to me because of CMPA 🤍
Thank you, I’ll buy these things but not sure what to do for tonight. If I put the cool boiled water in the bottle now, and add the formula when she wakes up, will it be no good?x
It’s hard isn’t it! I’ve been dairy and soy free for 4/5 months but now it’s wheat, egg, oats and more and her symptoms have gotten so bad nomatter what I try to cut 😩 x
I’ve been boiling kettle putting it in a flask then putting the full bottle oz for example my son has 5oz into the nuby and cooling it all rather than a hot shot xx
I make my little girls bottles leave the kettle for 30mins mix in the formula and then stand bottle in jug of cold water for a few mins testing it on my wrist until I find it right . My baby likes her bottles really warm but obviously not boiling .
