Baby wants more than formula recommended amount

Hey, my LO is 2 weeks old and showing signs that she’s still hungry after feeding but she’s already at the max recommended amount for a 4 week old according to the aptamil box…? Do I keep feeding her if she wants it? Or not go over the max amount on the box 🤔

I would go by her cues ❤️ it’s just a recommendation after all

I'd say follow baby's cues and if she wants more then give it to her. The info on the box is just a guide. Better to have a full baby then a hungry one! The guide is usually 150ml of formula multiplied by their kg weight. So if she's 3kg it's 450ml per 24 hours xx

Definetly go by baby’s cues. All babies are different- some hungrier than others- Aptamil are just offering a guide x

Go by what your baby wants. The box is just a guideline but every baby is different. Our daughter always had more formula than the ‘recommendation’ on the box. 😊 if she’s hungry, go for it!

Feeding should be baby led at that age so definitely go with her cues xx

My health visitor always told me to go with what my baby wants, I’d defo go with her cues! Xx

I had the same experience. Midwife said she can't be overfed by breast milk though

@Blestan I’m wondering for formula though not breastfed

We have had exactly the same, our baby is just over 2 weeks old and been showing hunger after a bottle, we have been going with his cues and giving him more. We discussed it with our health visitor too and she said if he is still wanting more to do so!

I always feed on demand, I feed on both sides, then pump 2oz and she has that and then 3oz of formula! And recently now and then she asks for an extra oz and I always give it to her! So that's 5-6 oz plus both breasts is alot for 3 weeks old i believe 🤣

I have a three week old and saw the health visitor yesterday she also said to just feed her when she seems hungry but just give her maybe a little less

Go with baby. The boxes are a load of rubbish. Most don’t actually correlate to the medical intake guidance based on weight and each different brand has different amounts

Thank you all!!
