Honestly i had to go on insulin for fasting and it really scared me at first but you don't even feel the needle. It's nothing compared to the finger prick
My fasting numbers were running slightly over / around the cut off and slightly below from around 32 weeks. I managed to get them around borderline or just under by walking after dinner and finding a snack that worked for me for before bed. (Protein pudding). My food numbers were always good. The consultant offered metformin because technically I’d had 3 high readings but I asked if I could try to get them below with tweaking things and they agreed. The diabetes midwife was more relaxed and didn’t feel I needed medication. So I was still allowed to give birth on mlu if I wanted and no induction until 40+6 as per nice guidelines. However at 38 weeks I had reduced movements and ended up having an induction more due to that and the fact the had gd.
Hi, I'm couldn't get my fasting levels under control, and they put me on medformin, but it reacted badly with me (cramping and diarrhoea), so I was then put on insulin. They kept upping my units, and it made my fasting numbers higher, so I never got it under control. However, birth plan wise, I was put for my elective section at 38 weeks. If I wasn't having a section, it would be induction at 38 weeks. X
