Congrats!! 🩷 I had all my prenatal care with a midwife and my delivery with a midwife at Kaiser Southern California. It was a great experience and highly recommend. I tried to see a few different midwives during my prenatal care because you don’t know which midwife you’ll have for your delivery. I never met the midwife who ended up delivering my baby but she was amazing! Planning to do it again!
Same experience as above! I just asked to schedule my appointments with the midwife and saw a few different ones with So Cal Kaiser and it was a great experience! I got lucky and my Midwife was doing rounds at the hospital the day I gave birth so she made it a point to come and help me deliver which was great! But I absolutely loves the midwives at the LA Kaiser! I think as long as you stay ‘low risk’ and still see an OB at least once or so they should be fine with you mostly seeing a midwife!
I just asked to schedule with midwives! Once you make one appt with them they will continue to schedule out with them. They were all so great. Only downside is if you have to change an appt last minute for some reason it is really hard to change it to a midwife. They are usually booked up so far in advance that you would most likely end up with an OBGYN. In the beginning apts though it doesn’t matter as much but I noticed a big difference in care between the two in my last trimester especially. Def go with the midwives
We visited a nurse midwife our whole prenatal care duration at Kaiser Southern California. Especially with Kaiser it felt like she had more time for us, and basically if there was a machine in the room she would let us see the baby every time 😂 we're in Kaiser SoCal seemed to place a big emphasis on their midwifery services. No guarantee that your midwife or OBGYN will be around during your delivery however. We had an unplanned early c section so no familiar faces there.
