My first appointment took just under a hour, but that is probably because my families medical history is complicated. Before the appointment I was asked to fill in a form with as much detail as possible, they then went through basically all the same questions plus a few others at the appointment, it was for getting all of my medical history and that of my husband. They then checked my blood pressure and took a urine sample and some bloods to check all was okay. Result came back about 4 days later. As it is my first baby the rest of the time was spend being told about what to expect and going over the patient held record which is a paper medical file about you and your baby sometimes called a 'Red book' (though mine is green and white 🙃) which you have to take to every appointment and scan etc. I hope you have a lovely midwife who talks you though everything. Mine did and it has made appointments easier.

@Kat thankyou so much for all that information 🫶🏽 did your husband attend with you? i’m only asking because my boyfriend won’t be coming with me but i don’t know much about his medical history

Honestly my first midwife appointment was so boring, just going over family history, my mum was with me so she knew most of that, I knew very little about my partners history at the time as we weren’t together long but she didn’t worry about that, they will more than likely ask if you’re safe and about abuse and all that not so fun stuff I’m pretty sure they look my blood pressure and stuff aswell but yeah that was pretty much mine, it took around an hour

Yes my husband came too. We were lucky his, work allowed him time off to do so. I did have to call my mother in law, to find out more about his family history though. 🤣
