Pinwheels are great for weaning babies at that age and upwards, you could fill with spinach and cheese, with tomato and cheese, fruit and cinnamon for sweet option, fish/ meat and veg fillings.
My kid went through a phase where all she wanted was small foods she could eat with her hand. Things like peas, blueberries, beans, cooked carrots, cucumber slices, bits of meat, small prices of toast. Any small finger foods were the only win for awhile at house.
I would say avoid giving your child processed meat. You could always buy lamb chops wash them properly and put some oregano on them and pop them in the oven and along side it you could potatoes thinly sliced carrots and carrots sliced and sprinkle some salt and pepper and leave in the oven on like 140c if you’ve got an electric oven and if not gas mark 5 and put it in at least 1hr before your due to feed her. You could also put a little sunflower on your potatoes and veg so they cook properly. Make sure you regularly check on it and toss it over to avoid one side cooking more than the other. I’d say start with oven food and then you can move on to stews, casseroles , rice, and lasagne/spaghetti bolognaise
Breakfast: - porridge (just oats and milk, in sprinkle a seed mix on ours) - bread and with peanut butter and smashed banana Lunch: Yogurt and berries Avocado toast Dinner: Roasted veg with hummus Pesto pasta Jacket potato with toppings Fish fingers and peas
Thank you so much everyone, I’ll give some of these a try🫶
https://feedingtinybellies.com/baby-led-weaning-no-cook-staples/ Start here. I don’t know what you’re saying about failing miserably. But some days my kid eats others he doesn’t. I don’t think that’s a fail. I think it’s just them learning and growing. Could you maybe list out either your favorite three meals for you? Or maybe list what happens typically when you sit down for a meal?
Just giver her safe versions of what you’re eating. For instance, if you’re eating a burrito bowl - give her some of your rice, avocado chunks, mashed beans, and bell pepper. These Instagram accounts solid starts app and website show you how to safely serve foods at each age. https://solidstarts.com/foods/avocado/
I love cooking, and yet I still felt I failed miserably between 18 months - 2 years. The picky phase humbles us all 😂 Are you in the UK? The What Mummy Makes cookbook has lots of great ideas, most fairly simple. I’m going to second the earlier suggestion of porridge too, if you’re transitioning to self feeding it’ll stick to the spoon making it an easy first food for your girl to self feed. Likewise a thick Greek yoghurt (fage is a good choice). Finger foods also a good choice! Solid Starts has great advice on how to serve different fruits and veggies safely. You’ve got this mama! X
have you tried instagram for blw, there’s wonderful pages on there! ❤️
