We haven’t given him nuts yet. We got told to wait until he js 1 to
@Danai who told you that and what was the reason? Does baby have existing allergies? It's now advised to introduce nuts as early as possible as delaying can actually result in a nut allergy.
Right. We went to the pharmacy and asked to give us something in case he gets a reaction and they pharmacist was very stern on not giving any nuts before the baby turns 1 as if he gets an allergic reaction he won’t be able to survive it 🤷♀️ health visitor said give him everything Baby and no allergies so far
@Danai your pharmacist has given you the wrong info. It’s definitely advised to offer nuts asap now (unless there’s a history of peanut or nut allergies in the family). The evidence shows a higher risk of allergies the later you introduce nuts.

@Danai if you're that concerned you could even go to a hospital car park to try nuts so you're right there in case of a reaction. But definitely worth doing as early as possible! In terms of what baby has for dinner, it's just whatever we have 😊 pasta, cottage pie, risotto, curry etc. We have dinner at about 5:30
I was thinking about that@Sophie hahaha it’s not that I am that concerned just to make sure we are doing the right thing Yes I looked and nhs says the same. We had made our own peanut butter and ready to give it few months ago but we stopped. We have had nuts ourselves and kissed him and nothing has happened I think we will give it a go 🤩
As early as possible is definitely the recommendation these days 😊 I took my girl near to a hospital but we live 40 mins from our closest one so I was worried if she did have a reaction we couldn't have done anything in time
Yeah that pharmacist is very wrong!! We’ve been giving peanut butter since 4months. If you have a family history of allergies or Eczema it’s even more important to introduce allergens early and keep giving them regularly. If you’re worried you can buy antihistamines to have at home, it will dampen any reactions if they occur. Would also recommend trying allergens in just a nappy so you can see any rashes.
@Danai that’s incorrect information given to you regarding nuts. My baby is under allergy consultant and they absolutely have said to introduce all allergens before 1
I tend to give my baby whatever we are eating for dinner & a yoghurt for pudding ☺️
I have totally failed when it comes to weaning and I blame being desperate for her to sleep through (which she now does). She has whatever we have and then I fill her up with yogurt and a spoon full of peanut butter. Yogurt, peanut butter and baked beans are the only thing I know she will definitely eat… everything else might as well flip a coin.
