Nursery struggle

It's now end of second week for my lo nursery. He goes Mon, Tye, Wed only. He already had his first cold, still has blocked nose. This week he cried every morning in when I dropped him off. He doesn't really eat there except fruit and snacks. Food is very similar to my cooking and to what he eat. Is this normal? He doest really want to eat at home either. He'll happily have a bottle of milk but not solids 🤷🏼‍♀️

The food could possible be a phase or teething. My girl does this every so often. My little girl was fine being dropped her to her child minders for the first two weeks. Then she got ill and then since then every day she cries but as soon as I’m out of sight she has a great time and is back to being happy and chatting! The illness are just gonna be constant too 😌

My little boy has been at nursery about a month now, and he still cries at drop off even though he absolutely loves it! All his key workers say as soon as I leave the tears stop and he begins playing, and when I pick him up he’s absolutely fine. A few times I’ve hovered outside the door when leaving, and couldn’t believe how he stopped crying almost instantly! So I wouldn’t worry too much about that, unless there’s any other signs he hates it/you have a gut feeling about the nursery. I remember my little one was a bit fussy the first week or so but then he turned one and dropped bottles completely and eats loads! Only time he’s been off his food is when he’s been poorly (which has been a lot since he started nursery lol), so it could just be him adjusting to change or he may even have a bit of a sore throat if he’s had a bit of cold, so milk is more soothing/easier to eat. Maybe see how he gets on next week and if there’s any improvements? Could always contact your HV for advice!

I think nursery is such a massive adjustment for them so most mums I know have said their children’s routines have changed in 1 way or another though so you’re definitely not on your own! I don’t think I’m going to send my daughter to nursery until she’s around 2, only reason being is because I run sensory and development classes for children up to the age of 5 so I’m fortunate enough to be able to take my daughter to work with me but I’m in no doubt when she does start, all routine will be thrown out of the window 😅
