Pudding with meals

My LO is 8 months and on 2 meals, breakfast and dinner. She eats loads at breakfast if it's porridge/yogurt/weetabix but barely actually eats much at dinner cause its more finger food. Today and yesterday I've given fruit and yogurt with her dinner and she's pretty finished her plate and not needed a bottle straight after as she was previously doing. My question is, is this okay? Does anyone else do this? What other 'pudding' options do people give if you do this? I feel like just fruit and or yogurt is all I can think of?

I should add, I'm northen so dinner is lunch😂

Also northern, but never called lunch dinner so this confused me 🤣 We give pudding after tea, but not lunch. But I don't see why it would be a bad thing, except I really don't want my LG to only like sweet food , and I worry that if she knows there will be pudding she won't eat her main meal.

@Emmo that's what I'm thinking, but she's refused the food then ate the yogurt then went back to her food so it's not like she's just eating the pudding? I think if i do more pureed things that she'll eat more of them maybe won't do it with pudding and see how that goes🤔😂

At 8 months you really don't need to worry about how much they are eating. I would keep going with the finger foods as they are more beneficial in the long run.

@Emmo I mean as well as the finger foods, some days it's just easier to make a puree when there's nothing in isn't it

I always served it with the meal and found my daughter ate more. She would also eat the sweet then go back to the savoury and still does this at 2.5

@Natalie thank you! Thinking about it as a kid we always had lunchboxes with fruit and yogurt in so I don't feel it's much different!

Similar to Natalie, we offer the sweet food he loves (berries in our case) with the savoury. 90% of the time he eventually goes back to the savoury, but only if we let him have access to the berries first

My 10 month old will either have a big dinner or a big tea, if she’s with me she’ll have a bigger tea but if i’m at work she gets given a bigger dinner by my partners mum😂 for a pudding she’s loving greek yoghurt at the minute with either fruit puree or chopped fruit, also you can get Heinz custard pots and the fruit medley one is actually really nice it tastes like a smoothie 😂 i’ve also just got some of the little pots of Ella’s Kitchen apple crumble for her to try 😋 or she’ll have something like a biscotti finger I think those are Heinz too I know they do them in all kinds of flavours but so far she’s tried the banana, and the banana and strawberry ones. Banana seems to have gone down the best
