Unsuccessful weaning

Hey, LB is a week off 6 months, watches us eating constantly, able to sit in his chair, brings toys to mouth all the time. We attempted to start weaning as he seemed to show all the signs he was ready. We did a mixed approach of puree and some baby led (steamed broccoli head and the rest blended to a puree for example). The first day was ok.. but the 3 days after with different types of veg he wouldnt bring any to his mouth like he does with everything he can get his hands on, and he just started crying. So we stopped and will wait a week or so and try again. Has anyone else’s babies been like this? We’re really surprised, he’s a big boy and seems really eager otherwise with all the signs they say to look out for. I tried it around lunch time which is when he’s usually very content and happy, a nice calm environment ect. Stressed mum now!

We have days where he really wants to eat and explore and days where he starts crying after 5 minutes. I let him eat in his own tempo and I want it to be a positive experience so if he's not enjoying it, we stop and try later that day or the next day. I just tell myself that babies do things in their own tempo and we all learn to eat and enjoy meals eventually xx

no advice but just to say i’m in the same boat! my baby turns her head so i can’t get to her mouth and refuses every single bit!

Don't stress about it, weaning particularly during the first few months is about them learning how to eat and exploring tastes and textures rather than actually getting calories in. If one day they're not really feeling it just clean up and try again the next day 🤍

Thank you, I’ve stopped for a few days as he was getting really upset, but will try again this weekend. X
