My little one would have that as a snack i know all babies are different but for tea that doesnt look alot to me or even a meal
My toddler at 15 months would have had that for a snack, “picky food”, rather than a meal.
I would say that’s a snack. My LO often picks before dinner
Our LO has proper meals for dinner at his nursery ( can eat seconds and thirds if they like) and he still has toast when he gets home at 6:30pm.
That’s definitely not a sufficient dinner/tea in my eyes. I’d say it’s a snack at the most even for a child with a smaller appetite x
That is not a proper meal.
@Emma wow that’s amazing! What age is that for? I’m surprised by the big chunks! Thanks all for commenting, that’s really helpful to know. I’ll continue offering dinner then, but I’m wondering why on earth he’s not that hungry in the evening then. He’s generally difficult to feed because at home he only eats when distracted, and I’m trying to break that habit
That looks very small to me and quite a poor selection of foods for a meal. The half a slice of cucumber looks huge in comparison to everything else. I wouldn’t be happy giving this to my son for a meal ☹️
Gosh that’s so surprising that everyone’s children seem to eat so well! Not sure whether that’s the sample of people who respond or whether something is wrong with my son then!
@Parris oh that’s definitely not considered a meal there, they have a proper lunch with cooked food at 12. But I’m just wondering why, after grazing on these things, he will have a tiny dinner instead of something proper. But then again he used to have bigger warm dinners when I was distracting him. Since I’ve started being stricter with playing during meals he eats a lot less 🙄
@Marioana they make the same dinner for all the kids and serve it appropriately xx
Kids are good at this age at knowing when they are hungry and full. He won't starve himself so try not to compare. My daughter eats like a sparrow compared to my son but that's just her xxx
@Marioana ohhhhhh I misunderstood! My son doesn’t have snacks. If he does he barely touches his next meal and I’d rather he get the nutrients from the meal than the snack as it doesn’t usually have many calories
@Parris oh ok!! That makes a lot of sense. No, so the first meal I posted is what they consider a snack. But then I would usually give him a warm dinner home too, like pasta or cottage pie. It’s just that recently he’s started refusing that so I wasn’t sure if this snack could possibly be so filling. Feeding is so stressful 🙄
Is this what the nursery offered him?
