We are in the same boat and starting nursery on weds. I tested it this week and just didn’t offer the boob through the day and she went 7 hours without milk before she got fussy. She rejects the bottle but has had a few sips of formula in a sippy cup when my husband offered it, so I have told nursery they don’t need to offer milk as standard but that I’ll put the formula and sippy cup in her bag if they need it. From what I understand a lot of EBF babies basically self wean for the daytimes and just don’t have milk at nursery but do a big feed before and after and just food during the day x
My eldest was a year old when I went back to work but she did just that, got through on solids and water until I got home. I just fed her in the morning before I left and fed her when I picked her up and before bed etc. He may accept the formula when they offer it but he won’t starve himself! It doesn’t sound like he’ll be missing out on many feeds anyway.
My little girl doesn't have milk whilst at the childminders or with my Mum. She has water and food but just won't take the milk but is still thriving. She just breastfeeds when she is with me. They adjust 🥰
I’ve just started to move my breastfed baby down in feeds, he was having 3 breastfeeds and 1 bottle a day and today I moved him to 2 breastfeeds 1 bottle (7am/1:30pm/6:45pm) so I think you could get away with just missing the middle lunchtime one and if they are super hungry at nursery they might take a bottle. Everything I’ve read suggests they will top themselves up when you nurse when you’ve collected them. Just need to make sure they don’t start reverse cycling and waking too much in the night x
