Daughter no longer likes foods she once loved. Any idea why?

My daughter is starting to dislike food she loved which is starting to make breakfast impossible. Weetabix, porridge, toast, scrambled eggs, avocado she just gags and spits it out. I try her again and she does the same thing. I’m unsure why as she could eat a whole avocado in one sitting not long ago and was obsessed with eggs! I don’t think it’s a texture thing as they’re all different textures. The most I can get her to have for breakfast a spoon or two of natural yoghurt and a few bites of cheese. And nothing else. She’s not a huge fruit lover either - sometimes she likes banana sometimes she doesn’t and aside from that will only really have strawberries. I’m really upset that she’s going to be a picky eater. I tried so hard to makesure she was having a range of different foods to avoid this. But seems like it’s happened anyway.

It’s very normal for babies to reject solids from time to time so this could only be temporary ❤️ is she teething? That can affect things. Keep persevering and I’m sure the HV can offer some advice if you’re worried ❤️

@Lauren she’s been “teething” for what feels like 5 months but doesn’t have a single tooth!

My little girl is going through the exact same thing! I literally can’t seem to get her to eat anything except yoghurt atm, whereas before she ate most things! Blueberries were her absolutely fav and now won’t touch them! Also suddenly completely refusing water 😭

@Laura soooo frustrating and worrying! Does your little girl have teeth yet ?

We give our lo weeabix and porridge for breakfast but there are time she refuse to eat it and we have to give her something else like food pouches for a week and try the same old again and she will have the porridge again.

We just had a week of this where it felt like all he was eating was cheese! But yesterday and today he seems back to his usual self so it may just be temporary! I wouldn’t worry or stress too much at this stage, just keep offering different food along side a ‘safe’ food. So mine had cheese or yogurt with every meal 🤦‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Teething and also apparently a natural built in instinct when they start moving round more. More foods literally start to taste gross to them and it's a mechanism to stop children eating dangerous things, especially plant based. My little one also did the same with avocado and we still aren't back to it. Though her overall appetite has after about a month of eating barely anything. https://www.sciencefocus.com/the-human-body/why-do-children-dislike-vegetables
