Pork opinions

What is everyone’s thoughts on food beliefs? My baby dad isn’t a Muslim, but he has very strong feelings towards NOT eating pork, he’s never set rules with our baby but he says this is the one thing he asks, is that I do not give our baby pork, he believes pork is dirty and unpure (which is true) Do I keep our son away from pork? Or is this cruel? I’m in abit of a limbo, thank you :)

If this is the only serious rule that he wants you to implement just do it. You guys have the same thoughts about pork so not having it in his diet won’t effect anything anyway

I’m a vegetarian so I’d have no clue, why is pork dirty and impure?

Why would it be cruel? We are raising our baby vegan. It’s not cruel to exclude certain foods as long as baby is having a nutritious diet. I would personally respect dad’s beliefs and wishes here. It means a lot to him and he’s an equal parent to you.

@Beth in the Bible it mentioned something about pigs. Forgot exactly what it says but it basically said pork is impure. Plus pigs eat anything

Personally, we don't really eat pork. It's more of the fact that it kind of just upsets our stomach. On rare occasions we do par take in eating bacon

I don’t think it’s cruel to restrict pork - cruel for who? :) except taking away never experiencing bacon but that’s just my opinion haha and I don’t eat it very often and don’t really eat pork either often except for cured ham which is a guilty pleasure but I’d never give to my baby because it’s so salty! I’m not sure it’s dirty and impure based on anything else other than religious teachings in Muslim and Jewish faiths though so if he’s not religious that seems pretty random but whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️ :) I’d respect his wishes if it’s easy enough to do!

@Jody that’s so interesting! I’m a vegetarian so I see no difference in eating pork to beef to chicken to fish. I do love pigs though 😭😭💜💜

Respect his wishes…it’s not a big ask. Plus pigs are impure anyway so you’re doing your baby a favour
