So stage 2 is a marketing ploy. Also it's why on any adverts on TV you'll see on the small print "not a breastmilk substitute" or something along those lines. It's also why mothers in other countries will pay people to send them formula over from this country because it's so tightly regulated companies can't mess about with what's in it.
My health visitor said the same as above. Said its fine to continue with number 1 later on as well, no need to change it.
My hv said to continue with what your using the next one up isn't any different
Thanks so much everyone will continue with stage one and won’t change until she goes onto full fat milk. Thanks again xx
My first was on aptamil 1 until we weaned her off formula at 14 months.. same thing x
UK law currently bans any advertising or inducement of sale on any formula under the age of 6 months of age. So companies can only put offers, sales, advertising on milk past 6 months old. This is to not discourage breastfeeding and breastmilk for any infants. Also. By UK law ALL formula regardless of brand, cost, stage 'type' MUST be nutritionally equivalent to each other. So nutritionally there is no difference regardless of what you spend. Now, the fact that they can't do fancy branding and advertising isn't good for brands or their profits. So to get around it they invented "stage 2" past 6 months. Then they invented "toddler milk". Even though they can have cows milk from 1. So no , she can have stage 1 as long as you like. It makes 0 difference because if there was any difference between stage 1 and stage 2 then it would be illegal. This was actually reported in the news recently because mothers are not told it at all.
