Nuby Rapid Cool method debate

Hi everyone just got the nuby rapidcool and was wondering what is the most effective and safest method. Research says both methods are fine but when I look into the hot shot method it's hard to know if the bacteria is being killed off for a 5oz bottle (if you only do 30ml/1oz of hot shot - not sure how it works with bigger bottles). And if it's better to just put formula and water into the rapidcool, what is the best way to sterilise the bottle afterwards ?

Only use the nuby for water - that way it won’t smell. Pour the amount of hot water needed into the bottle then transfer to the nuby to cool (But leave a hot shot in the bottle) Put the measured powder into the bottle (this is your hot shot) shake then add the cooled nuby water

@Francesca do you not find it’s a bit warm this way? I always find it’s quite hot and panic

I make the entire bottle in the nuby including putting formula in, as I just didn’t feel like a hot shot killed all the bacteria. I bought multiple nubys to make it easier when out and then when I get home I just wash them all & you can buy a rapid sterilise which is a uv steriliser for the nuby (it’s quite new) and it sterilises them in 1 minute, or you can use Milton tablets x

@Sophie the nuby cools the water down so just leave it a bit longer to work its magic. I NEVER trust the nuby anyway for water temp and I will always test it before giving to my baby anyway. Your hot shot is hardly any water at all - usually mine is just to make a paste - so shouldn’t be too hot for baby by the time you have positioned to feed, made the bottle and held then for a bit before feeding. I just then rinse the nuby out as it only ever sees hot water. Had just the one for years for multiple kids! It’s a great little invention!

I do the hot shot way & use 30ml/1oz for the hot shot. Did it with my first 2 years ago & now with my second. After every bottle I just rinse the nuby out & then at the end of the day when my little ones down in bed and not needing a bottle until the next morning I’ll clean it. If you are worrying about the bacteria being killed off and stuff with more ounces, you could always instead of 30ml’s of a hot shot do 40ml’s.

@Sophie I panic with the nuby being still hot, but I find if I leave it longer it’s fine it cools right down. So I’ll make the bottle up first hot shot in the bottle, water cooling In the nuby, then I’ll take my little one upstairs to do her nappy change. By the time I’m back downstairs and putting the bottle together it’s cool enough for her. But no matter what I’ll always check it on my wrist first as I still panic it’s too hot, it could be freezing cold and I’ll still check it 😂

@Sophie no just leave it in for a few minutes longer x

Honestly the hot shot method is fine it’s the same principle as the prep machines but you are actually in control of the ratio hot/ cold. As you increase the amount you increase the hot shot but only ever up to about 2oz. You just get the hang of it after using it so long. I don’t think I know anyone personally who uses it to cool the whole formula down x
