Speech Delay

My son will be 2 on May 5 & I’m starting to worry that he has speech delay, he can only say a good handful of words, I was wondering if anyone else’s toddler is going through the same thing or if I should just bring it up at his next dr’s appointment. My 8 year old has autism & I just worry he could possibly have it as well, but he does know a lot more than my daughter did at his age right now

Hey! My daughter will be 2 may 16th and I actually just started speech Blubs (an app) a few weeks ago and already it has helped SO much! Give it a try! I think they have a special too for a discounted monthly rate

I have this concern as well. I brought this up at my son‘s 18 month doctor appointment and they told me he was fine. I personally went to go get him evaluated. They also told me when he was fine but he’s currently in speech right now by my choice and he has made a significant Spike in words in just five sessions.

He should be saying 50 words by age 2. My son turns 2 May 12th and says about 40 words so he has some time and is in the normal range he had a language explosion recently. I was worried too especially after he stopped talking after a bad vaccine reaction

I have twin boys turning 2 May 3rd. They have 3 words spoken and 3 works signed, and are in Speech Therapy

My 2 year old is similar just says a good few handful, I’m really not concerned I’d be more concerned if he didn’t know how to communicate at all. My pediatrician says it’s really not an issue until around 3/4

Sorry one more thing that has helped us 🤣 I got the lit letters flash cards and those have been amazing as well!

@Mikayla I have those too !!! He loves them !

Have you spoken to Early Intervention for an eval? You can self refer or ask your pediatrician but even if it's just a speech delay, they can get you set up with a speech language pathologist to help!
