My LB does this as he’s very apprehensive about trying new foods or things off a spoon. I moved on to BLW from about 8 months and he did much better. He’s 16 months now but If I feed him from a spoon I have to let him lick a bit first to see if he likes it or I’ll put some on his lip otherwise I just give him things he can feed himself with
This could be a sign that your baby isn’t ready for solids yet. Opening the mouth to accept food is one of the things to look for when you’re deciding when to start. I can see your baby’s only just hit 6 months - could be worth putting it off for a few weeks and trying again later x
Let them play with it and bring it to mouth. I don’t feed my LG. She eventually does more and more. It’s ok if they hardly get any at the beginning. It’s just for taste and texture not for nutritional value at first
@Jess I was thinking that too. But he does open his mouth, just not fully with the tongue poking out first. I’m just letting him taste foods for the present time. I won’t push it. Maybe blw is also the way to go. I was hoping to do a combo.
Thanks ladies, I’ll take my time and give blw a go. I was going to do a combo but maybe he would prefer feeding himself.
Hand him the spoon and let him do it himself
Try BLW letting him bring his own food in his mouth. Hope it helps
