Steriliser?

Will I need a steriliser if we plan on using Mam bottles and dummies? They can both be sterilised in the microwave without a physical steriliser. We are limited on counter space and just looking at our options.

I've been wondering this too. In a similar situation to you with the limited space.

I'm sure it's only 1 or 2 thing at a time either a bottle or Dummy in the microwave at one time, best to maybe get a Steriliser to get them all done in one go, Steriliser feature on the bottles and dummies Is just if you don't really have any other option in a pinch and its such a pain in the bum to sterilise one at a time! you can get really cheap microwave sterilisers though that'll fit 5/6 bottles and the dummies if that helps 😊

It’s not necessary to get a steriliser too. We put more than one in the microwave at once and they were absolutely fine x

If you want a steriliser I’d recommend Milton cold water sterilising system. Much less faff than a steam steriliser

We had the mam bottles with my 21 month old and got them again this time round you can put the dummies in with a bottle… 1 bottle =3 mins and then 1 extra minute for each bottle so if you have all 4 bottles you would put the microwave on for 6 mins x

We used MAM bottles with my first and we never had a steriliser. We had the Milton bucket but just gave it away as it wasn’t needed x

We used mam bottles with my first and we used a steriliser, I’ll be doing the same with my second too.. I’ve seen a lot of the mam bottles melting in the microwave xx

We have the uv Tommie tippee steriliser, yes it takes space but you can basically use it as a cupboard to keep everything in and sterilised and it drys everything too so no wet bottles 🙂 (we also have microwave bags for on the go)

You can only put one in at a time I think and it's a faff. I'd personally get a steriliser x

I’ve bought a pack of the medela sterilising reusable bags, can use each bag 20x and it comes as a pack of 5. Also have my eyes on a Sterilizer but thought I’d try use this first to see how I get on and if I need a Sterilizer x

@Sophie you don’t have to! You can put multiple in at a time, you just had to add a minute on per bottle. So for 2 bottles - 4 mins, 3 bottles - 5 mins etc etc, I’m sure it’s 3 mins per bottle if I remember right x

@Caitlin Yhh that’s right 3 mins then 1 min for each added bottle , I used them with my 21 month old x

@Kirsty sorry I totally didn’t see your comment above my original one!🙈 my boy turned 3 in December so it’s been a while🤣x

@Caitlin it’s Oki babe , I don’t tend to read every single comment so if you had put of first I probably would of put it again 😆 xx

You can put multiple mam bottles in at once and the dummies in box then take out and store as they stay sterile for 24hrs , that’s what I did I also have a steam steriliser if your going to pump you’ll need that but also for things like calpol syringes.

@Megan i heard really good reviews about this but also that they turn some bottles yellow? Is that true?

I’ve got the mam bottles for if I express. I’m also going to buy the Milton cold water steriliser for ease

@Sonia none of ours went yellow, we used Tommie tippee though not mam so I am not sure about other brands 🙂 x
