Not babbling

Anyone else’s baby not babbling at 13 months? My son does not say mama dada baba or anything like that. He does make sounds though, laughs a lot. He can say ah and tries to form some shapes with his mouth. Any thoughts welcome, thank you

Sorry not helpful but following as in the same boat, we turned 1 yesterday

It might be a case of he can but doesn’t want to if he can make all sorts of sounds and form the shapes. My LG won’t say a single word if you ask her to only if she wants to. She can say quite a few words (at least 10 off the top of my head but probably a few more) but some I haven’t heard for 2/3 months because she flat out refuses. Maybe he can say them when you’re not paying much attention. Also when you do catch it remember things like mum and mama are classed as 2 separate words so when he does do it he’ll probably say more words than you think x

Perhaps he’s more forward in other ways such as crawling, standing, walking, sleeping through, trying new foods? My son is good at talking, eating and sleeping but still not crawling or standing or walking. Like so lazy and unbothered! Kids go at their own pace and I’m sure he understand so much of what you are saying. A lot of UK studies say they will be doing it all by 2 years old. Just try enjoy the ride and remember comparison is a thief of joy x

Maybe I’m just a worrier but I’d speak with the health visitor, this is something they ask at 12 month check anyway? Surely it’s not an issue though. My little boy is 12 month and only says mama, dada, cat and dog but very much on his terms not on demand. Like hollie said babies all develop differently, my boy physically is now walking however he doesn’t sleep through yet…. I’d love a good nights kip 😂😂😂

LB just turned 1, hates tummy time no interest in crawling or pulling up, but always wants to walk, supported of course! So far he has said Okay, baba 👶🏻 , caaa 🐈‍⬛ and I’m trying so hard for mama 😂 and dada 😒 but nothing yet!

My baby was like this until about 11.5 months and then all of a sudden started babbling over night. Keep talking to them and it should come. The health visitor told us to sit in front of of them and slowly say the words so they can see your mouth forming the words.. it seemed to have worked a bit!
