Islamic Weekday Education

So I informed my children’s Madrasah about my financial downfall & how I am struggling so bad I am now unable to afford to pay the fees. It’s a lot for 3 children. I am stressing every month how I’d pay the next. My parents help sometimes, although I’m grateful I don’t want to keep taking from them. Husband is in debts 10k currently. So I spoke to a brother who answered the call at the Madrasah. He said I should’ve given 4 weeks notice. I will still have to pay for another month. My children have not attended but two days since new cycle has started. Am I still liable to pay? I told him look brother, if I didn’t struggle this bad, I wouldn’t have pulled them out. I cannot pay at this moment. He said I will be held accountable. I explained to him I won’t be able to make payment now but I will have to save up and can pay after a couple of months. He said he doesn’t know what to say and so will speak with the head and may call me back. I’m feeling down. I’m stressing too. I’m heartbroken that I’m pulling the kids out too. 😔 I’m not sure what I’m looking for by writing this.

Salaam sis. Aothibillah this is such a strange thing to say from the madrassah. No you're not liable to pay. If they want to get technical about it did you sign a contract? Did they verbally tell you this? I'm so sorry to hear this and I'm very disappointed In hearing this too. Don't feel guilty, everyone goes through financial hardhsips and don't forget Allah is putting you through a test. Hold your head up high in shaa allah. Sis please dm me x May Allah make it easy on you and your family. May He ease the hearts of the madrassah people.

If you signed a contract and it stated that you had to give notice and pay fees until the end of that notice period then yes you can be held accountable and it can be sent to collections if you don't pay. They could forgive it due to your situation, but I feel that may be unlikely. They may offer a payment plan for it if you ask.

Ameen. @Kiran Jazak’Allah Khairan sister. Indeed, Allah is definitely putting me through another test. Subhan’Allah, Alhamdulillah. 🥹 I think I did sign contract, this was about 4 years ago. I didn’t really read at the time.

@Hessa Jazak’Allah Khairan sis. This is how it is I believe. I just felt like, as the kids aren’t being taught for this cycle, why do they need to charge me fees? But I guess it may be their policy. If I remember well, I think I paid a month in advance. I don’t feel like calling them again nor do I want to walk in their office. Feel very embarrassed. I did email, hoping for their response. All I can do is ask for time to pay the fees if this is their policy

Ask if they would accept a payment plan, I don't know how much it is but $20 a week until it's paid off sounds reasonable to me.
