Oh my lovely, I remember this feeling sooooo well! It’s so scary thinking you’re going to be doing it on your own but i promise it’s actually not that bad. The first few days/weeks might be a bit rocky and honestly just do the minimum because your recovery is so important. But once you find your rhythm with it and get into a bit of a routine it’s actually really nice. I’ve loved mat leave, once I was recovered from my c section, I was going to local mum walking groups and play dates. There’s so many mums out there that are in the same position so get yourself to some classes or local community groups if you’re on a budget. It’s so nice to meet other people that know exactly what you’re going through too 🫶🏻 once you feel up to it, just try to get out at least once a day - even if it’s to the shop and back or round the block. It does the world of good xx
I was pretty anxious when my husband went back but it ended up okay. My husband still helped me overnight every night and still manages all the overnights stuff even though he works full time. He knows being a Sahm is a harder job even though it is unpaid and it is important for my mental health to get a good night rest since it is both physical, mentally and emotionally exhausting during the day for me.
It can be really hard, then other days you have it all under control and even manage to wash your hair. Just take every day as it comes and remember that it really does go by so quickly, so try to embrace even the hardest moments. Somehow you just find your new normal and get into your own little routine. You’ll be so grateful on the work from home days. I know I was❤️
I did the night wake ups myself after a c section after the 2nd or 3rd night as I thought was more useful for my husband to be 100% in the day, I had to be awake breastfeeding so no point us both being tired, you will do great, we just manage when we need to which sounds crazy but you’ll do it instinctively! If you do struggle then ask and maybe do shifts that you sleep 21:00-0:00, husband then gets to go to bed at 0:00 and you are responsible for the rest of the night, hopefully you both still get some good sleep still!
