Weaning

What’s everyone doing for the meals during the day? I’m stuck with lunch ideas and a bit too nervous to do solids. We do either an Ella’s kitchen pouch for dinner or homemade blended dinner depending what we’ve done/got and breakfasts we do baby porridge, but just stuck on what people do for lunches that’s not solid foods yet, any ideas would be great 😅

we do a mixture so i got some baby pasta mixed in some cheese and tiny bits of chicken with some chicken stock so it wasn’t dry. We also do sweet potato with chicken or beef. Spaghetti bolegnaise ( blended spaghetti , mince, chopped tomatoes and beef stock). Broccoli or cauliflower with cheese and formula blended. Beans and jacket potato.

My LB has got on well with well cooked orzo or giant cous cous with a sauce made of blended roasted vegetables or pesto As a textured yet not fully solid meal Lentil dahl Cottage pie with the mince blended down still with the mash topping (good for batch cook) tuna mayo with the inside of a jacket potato The Ella’s kitchen first foods book is really good for inspo too and follows a texture timeline as per their pouches

We just do strips of stuff mainly.. cucumber, avocado, toast, large tomatoes cut into segments, banana

Thank you ladies, gives me some inspiration! Is anyone scared of solids for choking 🙈. She coughed on a cucumber stick and it made me anxious she was going to choke as she managed to bite a bit off, so I took it away in the end. I’ve given her the melty sticks and they’re not so bad x

@Sammi if she’s coughing her body is doing the right thing to prevent choking. I did a weaning group and they say loud and red leave them be, silent and blue they need help from you. And my little ones have always been okay. Just make sure you prepare the food how it needs to be and I’m sure she’ll be okay x

@Morgan thank you for your advice. I might see if I can find a local weaning class to attend as well x

My girl likes omelettes and pancakes! I cut them into strips. The pancakes I make with strawberries and bananas and then freeze them. We do a lot of baby led weaning anyway but these are definitely her faves and are nice and soft so easy for your baby to eat. You can easily change up the flavours too

Today my mam gave mine pilchards and she loved them. If youre worried about solids you dont have to rush into them. Theres nothing wrong with doing purees just try some baby dinners for 12+ theyre usually a bit more textured while you get used to the idea. My boys used to love the heinz nature baby dinners x

Thank you girls. We have just started introducing the 10 month pouches slowly as they’re a little more chunkier and she’s handling them really well. I’m in no rush for solids so will take my time introducing them xx
