Baby not wanting food

My baby boy is 7.5 months, he's exclusively breastfed and it's on the 99th percentile weight wise (nearly 11kg). I tried to give him first food when he was about 6.5 months, but he never really wanted it. Since then I'm trying various things, purees, yoghurt etc and he's not having anything, few days ago he ate a tiny bit of egg and that's about it. I can see on the group that other babies have 1/2 meals a day when my boy has nothing other than milk. Anytime I'd sit him on the chair and give him the spoon he's just smashing it on the table and when I try to put it in his mouth he's not opening it and cries if I'll get anything in his mouth. Does anyone here has/had similar experience? I'm a bit lost in what to do, I'm not worried about his weight or development as he's crawling and rolling, not sitting by himself yet but it's probably due to his weight/length (he's also very long), but I think he's just not getting full enough with milk as he wakes up 2/3 times at night for feeds. Anything will be appreciated!

Similar story...baby just turned 7 months and is the same size as yours. Wasn't interested until very recently. Most food thrown on the floor or spoon fed just sort out then mouth clamped shut. I decided just to give him something to play with every time I ate and really take the pressure off x

My baby only seems to like porridge at the moment. It’s so frustrating I feel like he just doesn’t like it. I’m going to start BLW soon I think see if that changes anything

Food before 1 is just for fun! Let him have the spoon and play with food - it's a great sensory experience for them even if they eat nothing or very little. Once he grows in confidence he will start tasting more and bringing them to his mouth himself.. there is quite a lot of obsession on these babies eating but they are only tiny still! This age is all about them growing confidence and gaining new skills to learn how to eat and chew! Yes iron stores start depleting at 6 month etc etc but your milk is still their best nutrition! If you are worried about vitamins and nutrients make sure you give him his vitamin supplement every day :) I promise he will get there, just let him have fun and do it in his own time x

Have a look at the bibadoo dippy feeder things and just let him explore and have fun. It will be messy just to warn you but try not to get worked up x
