Transition from BF to formula

Moms please help. My boy just turned 8 months old and we are desperately trying to put him on to formula but it’s proven to be difficult. He probably like the comfort of BF. My hubby tried couple of time during the day and I tried as well before putting to sleep but he only takes a small amount. We trying to give it to him in his sippy cup as he drink water really well from it and we don’t wanna go back to the bottle (which he never liked). Please can you help to know when should we try and how should I sit him etc etc. any tips would be appreciated x

Have you tried s combination of your milk and formula, Sometimes babies take to formula more when mixed and gradually reducing your own milk etc

I second Elles comment, we’ve just transitioned off. I started with one feed for a week, then two feeds for a week and then did every other feed which seemed to work best. Also helps manage the hormone crash for you! Although all I’ve done is cry this last week 🤣 I also found if he was really refusing the bottle pop him on the boob for a minute and then sneakily swap it for the bottle whilst he was on me 🙈🤣 after a couple of attempts he just switched to the bottle. Good luck xx

Thank you fir the advice. Tbh I found pumping very stressful but I think I have no other option so I will try it that way. Thanks again x

Do you guys think the sippy cup is okay or should I try bottles? X

@Anett personally I would try bottle as he's still only 8months, also you want him to feed and for reference my son is 3 and he will not entertain milk from a cup either but loves water from a cup , I'm just going by his queues every child is different we can't all go by the book , I totally understand i pumped for 6months as my son was born at 24wks.....when we did bring him home he did go straight onto formula x

@Anett I think bottle with him still being young sweet x
