Stimming

Does anyone elses little ones stim sometimes but doesnt have autism? Ive thought he might have adhd but know they dont diagnosed that till later and i know kids with adhd stim as well.

Yes! My kid babbles or sings to sleep most nights. Hand motions are not uncommon in babies in toddlers to when soothing. She also bites nails :/ But this is pretty normal for any age. Many NT adults stim too- biting on a shirt collar or sleeve, pen clicking, playing with a ring. It's more subtle than how kids stim, but there are dozens more examples.

@Winter this makes me feel better! When I asked a different group they are like sounds like autism and im like he doesnt have alot of signs that it would be autism! He mostly just stims from time to time and is a picky eater🤣 but ALOT of toddlers are picky eaters!

Have you had his three year check up yet? Definitely run everything by your provider and see if they think it's anything just to be safe. I had a big behavioral question at our three year appt this week and was relieved to hear it was 100% normal.
