Disclosing pregnancy in an interview

Hello you guys. I am about 14 weeks pregnant and interviewing for internship positions. I had a really good interview for a city office position this week and I did not mention being pregnant. Its a long term (up to a year) internship and I kind of feel unsure if not mentioning my pregnancy was unethical given the time I would need to take for my appointments and maternity leave. I really need the internship though and its a great opprotunity for me. Was I wrong for not mentioning it? Would you have?

idk where you are but if you’re in the us don’t feel bad and don’t disclose.

You have no legal obligation to disclose you're pregnant until you need to arrange for maternity leave.

Eh i definitely would. Because if it’s an internship that’d kind of different than a job. If it’s for a year and you’re gonna have leave and all that. You aren’t gonna get the time or the information you’ll need for that internship. So if it’s for like school it might not count. Like I’d maybe ask a professor or someone to see what needs to happen because yes a job they can’t fire you because of pregnancy but an internship is literally a learning opportunity for a potential job. And if you don’t have that learning time then you won’t get the job

@sydney I am in California

@Ellie Gotcha, my midwife only has appointments until 3pm so I know I will need to mention it before I have to go on leave 🙃

@Gabrielle My school only requires a 7-8 week internship (300 hours). They didnt set the internship up for me, I had to find it. So the year long internship far exceeds any school requirement and does not reflect on my school at all. I am weary of missing good information though :/.

You can just say that you have a Dr appt. You don't need to say what kind. Your work should accommodate for medical

Yeah I mean I think you should mention it especially because you’d have to leave for appointments and just give them a heads up on leave. But maybe it can be something along the lines of you work and what not but if you are specifically learning something maybe someone at work can bring you into when on leave or it be sent to you where you can still work and what not and learn also you’d want to know if it’s paid or not for leave. I doubt it would be but it would be good to know
