Trail mix that's pre-portioned can be a great snack! String cheese. Hard boiled egg. Things that you can already have ready are really helpful especially if you aren't normally a snack person.
Thank you both for the suggestions, I won't get a glucose monitor until Thursday so will feel more comfortable when I can see what spikes my levels! Will definitely try these to get me to then
Skim milk may spike glucose more than the whole milk.
Protein shake should be okay as long as the powder doesn’t have a lot of sugar in! My go to snacks are fruit, cheese, low sugar protein bars and corn based crisps. It seems really daunting at first but once you work out what does and doesn’t spike your sugar levels it gets easier! For meals I always struggled with what carbs to have, especially as i’m not a fan of wholemeal carbs, but I have found wholemeal pasta isn’t bad if it’s with a sauce, malted bread is an alternative to wholemeal bread and some white carbs sit okay with my levels such as mashed potato and rice. Sweet potato has become a huge part of my diet too! Be careful with sugar free sweets as the sweeteners can upset your tummy! Protein is good to keep you full but it’s also super important not to completely cut carbs x
