Weaning

Hi all, Really struggling here. We as a family have eaten quick easy meals for years, using made up jar sauces for Bolognais, curries etc. I'm aware I can't do this if I want our 6 month old to eat what we're having. So now it's the stress of having to now cook everything from fresh my self when time is limited and life is busy. What do you guys do?

When I was weaning my daughter, I started with homemade fruit and veggie purees (I’d steam them and then blend) and then slowly introduced yoghurt and finger foods and eventually started giving her whatever I was eating but I’d blend it or cut it so it was appropriate for her age and made sure it had less salt content than what I was eating

Making your own sauces is as quick and easy as using a jar, or you can even batch cook and make a big portion of the sauce and put into jars to freeze and then just take out the night before you plan to use it x

I think making your own can be relatively quick and much more tasty and nutritional not just for your baby but all the family. Once you start cooking from scratch it will get easier and quicker over time, then become second nature. As others have said you can also batch cook so you extra meals for days when you don’t have time to cook/quick lunches

Also there are some meals that do not take much time to make and can still be nutritious. I.e cutting up fresh fruit, steamed vegetables, adding cheeses/yoghurts to meals, boiling pasta and adding cottage cheese or butter, cooking meats all doesn’t take very long x
