Gestational Diabetes

Hi all 👋🏼 I am currently pregnant with baby number 2 and had my growth Scan today at 28 weeks + 2 days. They said that baby is a bit bigger than anticipated and that there's more fluid than usual and signs of glucose in my urine. All of this they think may add up to gestational Diabetes and I need to book a test. Has anyone else had this? I was very upset and reassured that it's nothing I've done/eaten it's just how the body responds to glucose during pregnancy. I'm more upset because this might mean that my hopes of a VBAC will be taken away from me and I'll have to go for an elective C-section. If anyone has any experience in this please let me know 🙏🏼

I had GD in my first pregnancy, and this was picked up at 25 weeks, I’ll be due my test next week for this pregnancy. My son was born vaginally weighing 6lb 7. You’ll get a growth scan every 3 weeks if you do have it x

No experience, but my sis went through the same and had a VBAC - induction so do not lose hope fingers crossed x

My first pregnancy I had gd and pre-eclampsia and my daughter was born vaginally. I’m on my 2nd pregnancy I’ve had gd since 16 weeks they test you early if you’ve had it previously and I’ve been reassured that I don’t have to have a c-section unless there’s complications. But I have been told a lot of consultants try and push you to have a c-section. Remember it’s your choice, if there’s no harm in trying vaginally then go for it but do what’s best for you and the baby and ask lots of questions 🩷

@leah thanks for this, the consultant seemed concerned about size of baby and risk of rupturing my scar during delivery which is totally freaking me out xxx

When my mum was pregnant on my youngest sister they told her the baby was really small and not a long of water either, induced her and she was the heaviest out of us all and the midwife said she was confused as to why they thought there wasn’t enough water because there was loads they also said my other sister was going to be too big and she was the smallest 😅 I honestly think it’s hard for them to tell properly and probably just trying to cover themselves if they can’t judge it right. Hopefully everything goes well for you and goes the way you want it too 🩷

My Dear have be quiet and Soo down since morning had appointment today I’m 25weeks and Measures 28cm and the midwife said the same thing that I have alot of fluid so she has to book me for an immediate scan but listening to the babies heart beat it was okay and my urine had no protein along side my temperature too was perfect but MY BELLY Is indeed huge so we praying to go far
