Feel like a bad mum already!

Yesterday I had a sugar tooth and binged on sweets and ice cream, I had over 100g sugar in the space of a couple of hours… I had a scan today (36 weeks) and they saw baby’s abdomen is measuring larger than normal so I have another scan in 2 weeks and a diabetes test next week. I feel like if it’s confirmed I have gestational diabetes, it’s because of this binge, and I’ve put my baby at risk by being so stupid yesterday (I wasn’t even thinking, and didn’t realise this could happen) 🥺 just a little upset vent really

Did you have your glucose tolerance test at 20 weeks ?

No, I was never offered one xx

Eating sugar isn’t what gives you GD, especially not just because of a one day binge. I had the 20 weeks test and it was negative, and at my 34 week scan the babies abdomen was measuring in the 97th percentile. I redone the GD test and still negative so they are not concerned in the slightest. Baby is just on the chunky side 😂

One binge is not going to have caused GD, nor is it going to have affected baby that quickly. If you have it it’s likely you’ve had it all along and just not known.

I’m sure that one day wouldn’t of caused this, I’ve binged sweet things throughout my pregnancy with no issues, please don’t blame yourself for this, I’m sure there’s a medical reason to why this has happened ❤️

I'm constantly eating sweets, have big babies, and passed the GD test. It's not based on what you eat, it's based on genetics, hormones, and the placenta.
