I'll tell you it was trial and error finding a therapist who SAW me and what I was going through and dedicated our sessions to overcoming it all. I found her on BetterHelp and it took a couple switches. Hold on to your hope and keep advocating for you and your needs. That mom rage and depression is no joke 😩 as you know.. she's been most supportive and understanding while also objective in a way that has helped me see where it all stems from and how to be a better mom/better me. A thousand times over, I LOVE it. It's worth persisting til you find who's right for you 💕
I go for just depression and anxiety. 4 sessions in. Lots of self discovery. It can be uncomfortable but in a good way. Helps you see things thru another lens and also dig deep within yourself to better understand and also learn how to work thru difficult situations. It can take a while to find the right therapist and that alone can be overwhelming. Either way it’s so worth it! I’m ready to grow and be the best version of myself :)
You need to find someone who does perinatal / postpartum specifically. Therapists can be trial and error, but if you can find someone you click with it will make all the difference. Post partum stuff needs someone who really understands it.
As I therapist I encourage you to keep advocating for yourself. If you have a good therapist they will listen be receptive and adjust. I recently had someone tell me they need more help with social anxiety and the next session we started a new treatment plan and I was thankful she said something and now it’s going great. Sometimes it takes a little for you both to adjust to each other. Don’t be afraid to seek someone else if after a little bit you feel it isn’t a good fit ❤️
I would be straight up with him and say “I feel like you are ignoring my concerns over ppd and rage. If they still don’t do anything I would change providers.
Don’t give up, I’d recommend finding a different therapist if you feel like you’re not vibing with this one. You should feel safe & validated in therapy. I’ve had success finding therapists thru PsychologyToday.com they have lots of filters for you to be able to find what you’re looking for. Every therapist has a different approach & way of doing things. Hope you can find one that works for you & meets your needs!❤️🩹
When I first started therapy I did want to address & work on “mom rage” as well as PPD/A & my therapist didn’t like that I labeled myself with “mom rage” & went on to completely validate my feelings & experience being so overwhelmed in motherhood😭 I felt so seen, heard & understood🥹
My gyn wanted to put me on bc for it but I declined Instead I get an hour to myself every day to decompress
