So worried for my kids future..

I’m just hearing and reading online so much discrimination towards mixed race people (especially black / white mix) Horrendous, derogatory terms and accounts of people feeling hatred from both sides at worst and not feeling they ‘fit in’ at best. The language used against them in this day and age is despicable and I worry as a white mum for my mixed race kids future. I’ve read that as long as you are ‘white passing’ then you’ll be okay. My kids are definitely not ‘white passing’ (hate that phrase as well!) one of them has very thick curly dark hair, dark eyes brows, a petites nose and lightly tanned skin, with full lips. is this child going to be okay in the world? They have been protected so far and never experience racism or discrimination but I do worru so much for their adult future and also just the state of the world they are growing up in and the people that inhabit it

It's unfortunately part and parcel of being black in the western world. As long as your kids come from a loving home, they know who they are and they are comfortable comfortable their skin because they know it's God's gift and beautiful - they will be fine, unstoppable and untouchable. The outsiders will always have an opinion. It's about being so full from within that theres no space for negative opinions/influences to nestle in. All the best mama!

My little one is only 2 months old and this is something I already worry about. My plan is to teach her from a young age that she might look a bit different from mammy and daddy but ours and gods love made her that way.

as a mixed person (black/white mix), I have had something racist said to me a couple of times, but I've not experienced that often. and I definitely feel like I don't rlly fit in anywhere, even now at the age of 20 I still feel like I don't rlly fit in.

@Jazlyn it’s such a shame isn’t it. .. I hope the world improves with mixed race people being the fastest growing population. You have beautiful eyes btw. Are they naturally blue. ?

I have a 4 year old and I always teach him to love his curly hair and who he is,Its okay to be different and not to let anyone put him down. I try not to worry about the things I can't control. It is what it is but they will be alright.

I have brown eyes, the filter made them look different tho, but thank u! and I rlly hope things r better for the next generation, I hope they don't have to deal with any racism. and I rlly hope that ur kids never have to deal with racism or feeling like they don't fit in 🩷

At the end of the day regardless of race there is always going to be someone that has a problem and all that we can do is pray for them if that's what you do and ignore the negative comments as hard as it is.

As a black woman with a mixed child, I will ensure she is proud of her heritage Caribbean and Irish Australian mix. I have experienced racism and not mixed. It's something a lot of our kids will face. You just have to listen to them and intervene when required. Let them know you have their back and ensure they embrace both sides of themselves!

I’m an adopted mixed pregnant female and I’m having a baby with a Mexican. People are gonna hate and be awful regardless. Just make sure to teach your children self love and about both cultures. My parents didn’t do that for me and it ruined my perspective of myself and how I view myself. My daughter will now learn to love both sides and celebrate the differences.

As a white woman who have a mixed 4 year old daughter and I strive to teach her to love herself and not let anyone put her down she’ll be starting school this year she started late but that’s mostly bc me and her dad decided to keep her home with us a little bit longer. Unfortunately people will always have opinions and have something to say but it’s not what’s on the outside that matters it’s what’s on the inside. 💕

Maybe we should just plan on teaching them it’s okay to be different and that they should not try so hard to fit in. At least that’s my plan for my daughter.

Well, I’m black and Mexican and Jamaican but when I go to the stores if I go with my family it gets, but I really don’t care. I just move on.

I truly never thought about it, but regardless of your race, there’s hate everywhere. If it’s not your skin tone then it’s your clothes or your attitude or something else. I guess you just have to teach your children to not be afraid of being themselves

Amen to that

I'm white presenting, ask me anything lol
