Stress over meals

Not sure if anyone feels the same as me, I find it so stressful planning my little girl’s meals. I don’t have the best diet or relationship with food. I have a very beige diet as I have food sensory issues so giving her what I have isn’t possible. I also skip a lot of meals for myself, I am going out of my way to make her balanced diet meals and don’t end up eating anything myself as I don’t have time to make two different meals (it’s just me and her). I always just end up snacking. The thought of ‘what should I make her for dinner tonight’ is always so stressful and I just keep thinking I can’t take another like 18 years of this (deciding what to cook her for dinner) lol 🙈 anyone else struggling with this?

I was struggling with this and it was stressing me out on a daily basis so now I meal plan. Every Saturday I think about the week ahead and where I can I make things that night too. That way I just have to grab things out of the freezer etc. I also only really do things that take around 30 mins to make because it’s is also just us and I don’t like leaving her too long or having her under my feet 😅

I bought this book and the recipes are so simple https://amzn.eu/d/2CrmIx6

I plan out meals for the week and do as many things I can batch cook and freeze as possible. That way I don't have to make as much stuff on the day as possible. We also do sandwiches most days for tea.

I have 2 autistic (beige food) children and I usually cook the same for all of us but take some aside for them. Like some pasta before adding the sauce and veg. Also batch cooking and freezing individual potions helps. I also always have some tins of Mac n cheese in the cupboard when we have soup as neither of them eats soups. Don't worry about making your child fancy, super complicated meals x

Veggie muffins and egg muffins are a great way to bulk make a healthy lunch/dinner item. It essentially makes 12 lunches/dinners and then I just add some extras. Dinner wise, don’t be afraid to do the same dinner two days in a row. I try to give our baby what we have and make 2 portions for him so he can have it for dinner/lunch the next day as well. Also use chat gpt to get ideas/make a shopping list. It takes off the mental load.

I love a meal plan and even with that I've been finding the mental load a lot! Which is why I've been asking chatgpt! If you tailor the prompt around what your baby likes or what you want them to try or have in the house anyway (whatever helps) then they'll do the thinking for you.
