Fruit!!

How is everyone getting their little ones to eat fruit, i have tried my little boy with all sorts, he's tried pear, apple, grapes, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, oranges, watermelon and then both the white and orange melons but i cant remember name of those 🤣🤣 and He literally will not eat any fresh fruit at all, i've tried it in all different forms i've tried everything multiple times, the only things he'll sort of eat are oranges and watermelon, oranges he just sucks and then throws about and watermelon he bites chews and then spits it out everything else he turns his nose up at or he'll bite into it make a face and spit it out and launch the rest on the floor, i feel like ive tried most fruits over 10 times as i add one to every meal as a little extra and offer it as snacks but he still just will not eat fresh fruit. Its not like ive randomly started introducing it when we're far into our blw journey, ive offered it since the very start, ive tried mixing it in with his porridge and weetabix but as soon as its mixed in he wont touch them. Dont even get me started on bananas he picks it up looks at it and launches it as far as he can he's put banana in his mouth probs twice he won't even put it back near his mouth now. I'm getting myself really stressed out and worked up because he needs a balanced diet. He has a lot of veg offered too and he's the same with that but he's eating carrots alot more than he used to and he does like tenderstem and baby corn but that's about the only fruit and veg he eats and again alot of the time it gets spat out. I'm also having problems with getting him to drink water i've tried since he was allowed, tried hundreds of different bottles even tried it in his bottle he had his milk out of and he won't drink it if i have a glass of water he wants it cos it's mine but as soon as its goed into his mouth he spits it out. I've tried adding a little bit of sugar free dilute and also water mixed with a little bit of fresh orange and he still won't entertain it but i'm worried he'll get dehydrated and he is quite constipated all the time too he goes days without pooing and i'm worried this is down to the fact he won't have any liquids other than his formula. He's 10 months old, 11 months on 30th May.

Does he like cold/frozen things? We freeze Ella's kitchen yogurt pouches in droplets (like they do for toothpaste, if you've seen those videos😂) and our girl loves them! You could probably do that with the Ella's kitchen squishy snack fruit pouches too, or other similar pouches. I know it's not quite the same as fresh fruit but it's better than nothing! Be good for the hot weather too, plus when he's teething!

Have you tried smoothies? It’s how I get my toddler to have some fruit. So far he’s a big fan of pear, banana, date and tahini smoothies and strawberry, banana and carrot juice. I blend them with almond milk and sometimes add some Greek yoghurt if I want to make them more substantial. He might be a bit too young to appreciate the novelty of dipping but when he’s a bit older I’d recommend having him dip dip dip his fruit into yoghurt or nut butters. My toddler is obsessed with cashew and almond butters and it’s how I get him to eat berries. Also try mixing up what shapes/form you serve the fruit in. My son would go through phases where for example he’d only eat strawberries if they were cut up into bite sized pieces and on a fork and then completely switch and would only eat them if I offered them whole. Same with bananas, sometimes he’d only want them sliced and sometimes only offered as a whole. Getting babies to eat feels like mind games and riddles 😂

my guy LOVES strawberries and raspberries. sometimes bananas but everything else he isn’t really a fan of unless it’s a good piece of pineapple lol he does love fruit but i didn’t see you mention strawberries at all!

@Samantha i meant to add strawberries on i buy 2 boxes a week and try him with em everyday because i really want him to like them but he just doesn't 🥲🥲

@Oliwia no i've not actually tried smoothies!! ill deffo have to give that a go. I've tried serving them in all diff ways, bigger pieces, smaller pieces, mashed up he just will not have it it's absolutely horrendous 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️x

@Lauren yeh he loves them to be fair, he has frozen frubes, he will eat the ella's kitchen fruit pouches but he eats them less than he used to he used to eat a full pouch in one sitting now i'm lucky to get him to eat half 😩xx

I make pancakes with fruit.

This must be very frustrating. Keep offering it because my boy was throwing bits of banana constantly then one day he just started eating it. Same happened with the straw cup. One day he just started drinking from it. We use the TumTum ones. Good luck x

We daughter use to eat fruit then went off eating it when she was poorly but loves all fruit flavours through yogurt and smoothies ! Ella’s kitchen do 4/5 different smoothies aka “ the red/green/purple/yellow/orange & pink” Aldi do their own versions too. Or try and make your own smoothies at home . Water I introduced at 6 months , just kept giving at meal times, then I left it on the floor in her play area for her to explore and soon she just picked it up and started doing jt herself ( munchkin 360 , then the state version )

Wouldnt stress too much about this. Not every kid likes fruit. I hated fruit as a kid. When I got a little older I liked berries (strawberries and raspberries). Even as an adult I'm not a fan of fruit. I prefer veggies and always have

Pouch
